Immaculate Conception School (ICS) is located in Formosa, Ontario. The existing building was built in 1968 and an addition made in 1989. There has been a school on the site for over 100 years. The school serves approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. ICS Formosa is a dual track school providing both an English and a French Immersion Programme. With changing demographics, the English programme has been declining, while Immersion has been growing. Immersion students come from the communities of Formosa, Teeswater, Mildmay, Chepstow, Walkerton and Hanover.
The school is situated on the north east hill of the Formosa Valley, adjacent to the beautiful parish church. Community groups such as, the Boy Scouts, Brownies, Coaching Clinics, Lion's Club, and Family Reunions, use the gymnasium and classrooms as meeting space after hours and on weekends. Immaculate Conception School enjoys a healthy partnership with our parish priest, our parents and our School Advisory Council, all working hard to achieve our common goals. Our parish priest and parents serve on several committees and assist at many funcions where their input, expertise and support are greatly valued. As our Mission Statement declares, "We are a Catholic Faith Community committed to developing and maintaining a love of life-long lelarning, nurturing self-esteem and respect for all creation."
